Chris Carlos is so many things: Acrobat, Performer, Coach, Event Manager, Facilitator, Entrepreneur, …
Before the Bali Handstand Retreat I hadn’t heard about him, since I was all about solo handstands and wasn’t as familiar with the Australian acro world. But when I got there and realized what an amazing person, teacher, and charismatic entrepreneur he is, I knew I had to get some of his perspectives in front of the camera to share with all of you.
Chris is the creator of Spin Circus with all of its events, like festivals, workshops, conventions and retreats. The most famous probably being the Spin Festival and APAC (Australian Partner Acrobatic Convention). He is also a performer with GOM (Gravity and other Myths) Circus and is currently touring all around the world. On top of that he is a top notch acrobatics teacher. He is one of the few that adapts his style of teaching depending on what you want to achieve.
In this interview Chris shares some of his views on handbalance VS acrobatics, how to get started in hand 2 hand acrobatics while staying safe and the differences between acroyoga and circus acrobatics.
I owe him so much for the experience he and Mel Vecchio (who managed all of it) gave us with this Retreat. It’s because of him that I was able to try out flying hand 2 hand without being scared to death. You can tell that Chris is a base at heart. Everybody who was just learning wanted to use him and you could definitely see his love for supporting others.
