I consider myself very fortunate to be able to travel and meet handbalancers I admire. This one in particular was very special though. Not only does he speak german, like me. But also he is one of the best handbalancers I know. I got to work with him and I got to experience that he’s not only a beast regarding his own skills, but also is an excellent coach, who knows how to communicate his knowledge. And I was able to benefit a lot and gain a new understanding from our session.
Sascha Bachmann aka The Germinator lives the life that many people dream of, having had the opportunity to perform on Broadway right after his graduation at the National Circus School in Montreal and having been performing on countless Shows and living the stage life eversince.
In this interview he shares some of his experiences of living the artists life and also how he manages his training of different disciplines. Eventhough Sascha started his physical journey very early through gymnastics, he has kept the “work hard” mentality until this day and keeps working on himself day in and day out. I loved how we directly got to work when we met for our session. It kinda reminded me of my russian figure skating coach that guided me through the biggest part of my life in my practice on ice. This kind of focused work teaches you what you are really capable of. And for me this is pure enjoyment.
Besides being a very focused cu- to-the-chase guy, Sascha still carries his good humor with him and we had fun shooting this episode while Ivo and I were living the car life. He hopped right in with us for the conversation :).
If you ever have the chance to work with this guy, I can highly recommend it on any level.
